Friends. Niklas Putnam grew up in Washoe County. His family came to Reno after his father retired from the Army in 1973. Niklas graduated from the University of Nevada – Reno. His mother, father, and siblings also live in the Reno area.
Niklas recently retired from the active duty military after serving 23 years. This decorated military officer’s career included service in the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and later as a Weapons of Mass Destruction Counter-proliferation Officer. He was the recipient of the Legion of Merit and Bronze Order of the DeFleury Medal awarded for significant contribution in Defense of the Nation and USACE combat engineering, construction, and geospatial missions. Fort Bragg is known as the home of the ‘All American – Airborne!’

Niklas brings with him a real passion to serve his constituents. Whether in student government or mayor of military on post housing area, Niklas has dedicated his efforts to improve the standard of living & solve problems for those whom he represented. Nik brings with him not only the skill to work with others, but knowledge and experience in construction, environmental, and disaster relief operations. Over the last four decades, Niklas has seen Reno and Washoe County grow. With this comes responsibility to ensure first responders, infrastructure, and schools are well resourced and grow as well. It also includes maintaining Nevada’s unique way of life by preserving our natural spaces, supporting special events such as the Reno Philharmonic and Reno National Championship Air Races, all with a commitment to no new state taxes. He’s passionate about jobs creation. The Reno area has the resources to become a great destination for both quality employers and families to support them.
In the coming days, Niklas will personally walk the neighborhoods and businesses of Nevada State Assembly’s 25th District (Verdi, West Reno, and Cold Springs) to find out what your State Government is doing well, what needs to be improved, and ideas of its residents.
